Each school year the students from our high school have a chance to pass the FLEX program and almost every year there are students who have the chance to go to the USA for one school year. Next year two of our students will fly to the USA: Marcu Cristina and Kalinovski Ana. Let's congratulate the girls and let's wish them good luck!!! You are our pride.
Since 2010, Technovation has engaged nearly 3000 girls in 25 countries to become innovative problem solvers and create for the future. These young innovators have built mobile apps to tackle problems ranging from clean water access to women’s safety in urban areas. Over the course of 12 weeks, teams work on building their mobile app prototypes and refining a business plan which includes everything from market size assessment to potential revenue. At the end of the prototyping period, teams submit a pitch video, business plan, and prototype for the opportunity to win $10,000 in seed funding for further development of their app and business.
A group of five nice girls, from our lyceum, leaded by two mentors Adam Lawrence, Herminia Gomez and an English Teacher Natalia Rata has engaged in this project and has worked very hard for 12 weeks. Finally, the group has finished its work and now let's see the results.
Congratulation girls! You have done it! You have worked hard and now you have certificates of this project accomplishment!
This week was a little busy for us, dear firends. We opened it on Monday with famous singers' songs, continuing on Tuesday with creative writing. On Wednasday we had a skype session with one of our FLEX Alumni who is now working in Dublin. On Thursday we watched a nice film, "One Day". Finally, today, on Friday we organized a concert: songs, poems and videos dedicated to English Language. We had guests from the USA, PCVs- Mina Gomez and Adam Lawrence. They gave certificates of participation to our students who were engaged on Tuesday in Write on Competition, and also they helped us to award our singers and video makers.I will post photos and videos for you to remember this week and the amazing moments you had during the week. Let's watch your videos about English Language
And of course fragments from our singers' video We thank Adam and Mina for comming and for their apreciation Wow, today we participated in Write On Competition. Twenty students of our Lyceum, together with me and a Peace Corp Volunteer (Herminia Gomez) wrote on different topics. All the essays were scanned and sent to Chisinau. I hope we did a good thing and wrote good and creative essays. We had fun. Here are some of our pictures in the process of writing. And here is the proof of our participation on facebook

Christmas, is an event that we celebrate with great pleasure. We celebrate it surrounded our relatives, but also we celebrate it at the lyceum, all together: teachers and pupils. Our students, as usual, decorated the classrooms, the halls and organized a concert. Father Christmas was present too and he highly appreated all the Christmas trees made by our students and brought them sweets for that.
Don't forget, my dears, to write a letter and tell all your wishes. It is December already. Very soon all the winter tests finish and we will be able to think about Christmas and its magic. Let's celebrate together Christams, dear pupils. I am waiting for your ideas. It was Thursday, November 26th and we celebrated Thanksgiving Day. We organized a kind of Holiday table(pizza, coffee, tea and cookies). We spoke about the history of this Holiday, designed a poster, read poems. The most important was, that we had a video chat with Amy Samuelson https://www.facebook.com/amysamuelson/photos, our online mentor. She told us a lot of details about Thanksgiving, about her childhood memories. The pupils liked the video chat, they asked for more online meetings and they invited Amy to visit us. Thank you Amy for beeing so kind and we hope to have more opportunities to chat again. |
